Writing a pentest report often means adding dynamic sections into the report based on findings, methodology, and the attack chain. Often, those sections are copy-paste, meaning you simply have to pull them from a library.
With Cyver Core's Text Block library, you can save that content to your Cyver Core library, select it, and dynamically add it anywhere in the report that you want. You do so using a Token, which you can copy-pate or pull from the Cyver Core Token database.
Let's take a look!
How to Create a Text Block Library
- From the Dashboard, Navigate to Settings and Click Report Templates
- Select Text Block Libraries in the Report Templates Tab
- Click + New Text Block Library
- Name the Library, describe it, and select a team to manage it. You can also choose to immediately publish or not.
- Click Save!
You can add as many text block libraries as you want to support different types of security testing.
How to Add to a Text Block Library
You can add content to your Text Block Library in two ways.
Add Content from the Library
From the relevant Text Block Library:
- Click + New Text Block
- Add a Title
- Create a token. This should be searchable and informative. However, you can scroll through and preview. We recommend short but descriptive names. E.g., Log4Shell12
- Add the text block. This is the content that will later show up in the report when you use the token you've just created. You can treat it just like you would a report. This means you can use images, tokens, tables, and format text as much as you want.
- Set Visibility.
-
-
-
- Always Visible - Text Block is always visible when the token is added to a report
- Findings with label counter greater than zero - Text Block only shows when there are findings with the selected Label
-
-
- Click Save
Save Text Blocks from the Report
You can also highlight and save any part of a report into a text block.
- Navigate to the relevant report. Pentests --> Select project --> Report
- Open the Editor
- Select the text you'd like to save with your mouse
- Click + Add to Text Block Library
- Select a Library to Add it to
- Follow the steps above to name and reference your new Text Block. Keep in mind, you can always edit your text here before you hit save!
How to Insert Content from a Text Block Library Into Your Report
Once you've saved Text Blocks to your Library, you can add them to the library using a token. Each of your libraries will have its own category in the Report Token Database.
How to Edit a Text Block Library
You can edit a Text Block Library at any time. Here, you can edit the Text Block Library itself and the Text Blocks you've added to it.
- Navigate to the relevant Text Block Library
- Click Edit to change details for the library
- Click ... under Actions to edit the contents of an individual Text Block or to Delete a Text Block. You can edit the title, token, and content of the text block.
That's it! Hopefully you can start using Text Blocks to save even more time building your reports!
