General Information on the PCI DSS
The PCI DSS was developed to encourage and enhance payment account data security and facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures globally. It provides a baseline of technical and operational requirements designed to protect Account Data (specifically Cardholder Data). While the standard's focus is on environments that store, process, or transmit payment account data, it is a robust framework that can also be used to protect other critical elements in the payment ecosystem.
