The new finding interface is designed to make reviewing, editing, and collaborating on vulnerabilities faster and more intuitive. By configuring the Findings and Report Text Editor settings, you can also ensure seamless formatting between your findings and your final generated reports.
This guide outlines how to enable the new experience, how the text editor settings interact, and what to expect from the updated interface.
1. Enabling the New Experience
You can control the finding interface and text editor behavior directly from your project settings.
Open your project and click the Actions dropdown menu at the top right of the screen, then select Settings.
Navigate to the Findings tab. Use the Finding edit experience dropdown to choose between Legacy or New Experience (Beta).
Navigate to the Pentester Portal tab. Use the Findings and Report Text Editor dropdown to choose between Markdown or Rich text (collaboration).
Important Note on Locked Settings: You can only change these settings if there are no findings and no generated report versions in your project. Once a project contains any findings or a report version has been generated, these dropdown fields will be disabled.
2. Understanding the Text Editor Logic
The goal of the text editor configuration is to allow you to use the exact same formatting in both your findings and your reports, preventing any formatting breaks during report generation. The actual editor that appears in your workspace depends entirely on how you combine these two settings.
Here is exactly how the rules apply:
New Experience (Beta) + Rich text (collaboration): The edit experience in your findings is Rich Text, and the editor in your report tab is Rich text (collaboration).
New Experience (Beta) + Markdown: The edit experience in your findings is standard Markdown, and the editor in your report tab is standard Markdown.
Legacy + Rich text (collaboration): The edit experience in your findings will continue to be Markdown, while the experience in the report tab will utilize the Rich text (collaboration) editor.
3. Navigating the New Finding Interface
When you activate the New Experience (Beta), you will immediately notice workflow improvements designed to reduce clicks, eliminate full-page reloads, and keep your focus on the data.
The Preview Drawer: Instead of navigating away to a full-page view, hover over a finding in the grid and click the new "eye" (Preview) icon. This opens a streamlined side drawer overlaying the grid, allowing you to view details without losing your place in the project.
Inline Editing & Collaboration: There is no need to open a big edit modal anymore. To modify a finding, simply click directly into any field within the drawer. The text editor opens inline, complete with GenAI Copilot options, and auto-save is supported so your changes are captured immediately. This editor is also collaborative, meaning multiple team members can work on the same finding simultaneously.
Instant Activity Access: You no longer need to scroll down to the bottom of a finding to view its history. The drawer features intuitive tabs at the top: Overview and Activity / Messages, allowing you to switch contexts instantly.
Finding Comments: To enhance team collaboration, you can now add specific comments directly inside the findings. You can click the "Add Comment" bubble icon located in the rich text editor's top toolbar while editing a field, use the quick-access comment bubble icon when simply hovering over a field, or highlight a specific portion of text to reveal a floating action menu. From here, you can draft notes, tag team members, and assign specific due dates for internal discussions or peer reviews.
