Managing a pentest involves more than just writing reports. It requires tracking checklist items, workflow steps, client questions, and finding remediations. Cyver Core transforms all these moving parts into trackable, actionable items that flow into one centralized dashboard.
This guide covers how to manage actionable items within a project and how to track them globally using the Tasks menu.
Part 1: The Centralized Tasks Dashboard
The Tasks menu acts as your universal inbox. It aggregates all actionable items assigned to you or your team across every active pentest.
Supported Task Types
Using the Task Type dropdown filter at the top of the grid, you can view and manage:
Benchmarks
Checklists
Finding Messages
Project Messages
Report Comments
Workflows
Customizing the Grid
You can adjust the table to show exactly the information you need:
Click the Gear icon on the right side of the screen to open Grid column settings.
Check or uncheck columns (Task, Assignee, Status, Due Date, Type, Pentest) to hide or show them.
Use the Group By dropdown to visually group tasks together by Pentest.
Managing Custom Displays (Tabs)
By default, you have quick-access tabs like My Open Tasks and All Open Tasks. You can customize these, create personalized views for specific filters, and even pin them to your sidebar or dashboard for instant access.
Note: Custom Displays and Pinning options are universal features available across multiple modules (Tasks, Findings, Pentests, and Clients). For step-by-step instructions on creating, managing, and pinning your custom tabs, please refer to Custom Displays.
Part 2: Managing Actionable Tasks Within a Project
Tasks are not just generated by Checklists or Workflows. You can turn ongoing conversations, finding remediations, and report reviews into trackable tasks directly from within the project workspace.
1. Project Messages
Instead of general project questions or requests getting lost in a chat thread, you can turn them into trackable tasks directly from the main project Messages tab.
Navigate to the project's Messages tab.
Type your message in the text editor, use the toggle to set it as a Public or Internal Message, and click Submit.
Once the message is posted, click Assignee to search and select a user, and click Due Date to set a deadline.
Once assigned, an interactive Status badge will appear. You can click this badge at any time to update the progress (To Do, In Progress, Skipped, Completed).
2. Finding Messages
When discussing remediation steps or asking specific questions about a vulnerability, you can assign these conversations as tasks within the finding's Activity tab.
Navigate to a specific finding and scroll down to the text editor in the Activity section.
Type your message, choose whether it is a Public or Internal Message, and click Submit.
After submission, use the inline options below your posted message to add an Assignee and a Due Date to allocate the task.
Use the newly appeared Status badge to update the item's progress as work continues.
3. Report Comments
When collaborating on a draft report, reviewers can leave comments that need to be addressed before publishing.
Navigate to the Report tab.
Double-click a word or highlight a specific phrase or paragraph. A small Add Comment button will appear; click it.
A modal will pop up. Type your feedback or request in the text box.
Directly within this modal, click Assignee to allocate the task to a team member and click Due Date to set a deadline.
Click Comment to save.
The assignee can track the comment and, once the issue is fixed in the editor, change the comment's status from Open to Resolved.
Note: For a deeper dive into managing, filtering, and resolving all comments within the report editor, please refer to Pentest Report Collaboration: Comments, Review Changes.
